Press May 18, 2000 NATSOURCE's ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION DESK TO DONATE POLLUTION CREDITS AS PART OF ECOLOGYFUND.COM REDUCTION PROGRAM
To Retire SO2 And CO2 By Giving Them To Environmental Law and Policy Center New York, NY - October 29, 2002 -- Natsource's Environmental Action Desk has announced that it will donate for retirement 2,600 tons (more than 5,000,000 pounds) of CO2 and 5 tons of SO2 as part of an agreement made with EcologyFund.com and the Environmental Law and Policy Center to reduce pollution that contributes to global warming and acid rain. The campaign, which was announced in April of 2001, encouraged consumers to visit EcologyFund.com to click and donate emission reduction credits to remove pollution from the environment. Ecologyfund.com (http://www.EcologyFund.com) is one of the largest wilderness protection click-to-give websites with more than 100,000 visitors each month. Visitors view Internet ad banners in order to make wilderness land donations, plant trees and reduce pollution. The Environmental Action Desk - sponsored program allowed visitors to view the Reduce Pollution page, view banners of EcologyFund.com sponsors, and be rewarded by securing the permanent retirement of two pounds of CO2 reductions for free, courtesy of Natsource's Environmental Action Desk. We are extremely pleased with overall visitor response to this exciting online click-and-donate program, says Jack Cogen, President of Natsource. As a company committed to protecting the environment and reducing pollution it is satisfying to see the excellent visitor participation in this program, he adds. In addition to the free donation, the Environmental Action Desk also promoted personal purchase of carbon credits through EcologyFund.com. The 2,600 tons of CO2 and 5 tons of SO2 will be donated to the Environmental Law and Policy Center of the Midwest (ELPC), the Midwest's largest environmental advocacy organization. ELPC in turn will retire the credits, permanently reducing emissions of CO2, the major cause of global warming, and SO2, the major cause of acid rain, in the environment. "Through the efforts of Natsource's Environmental Action Desk and the Environmental Law and Policy Center, we've helped to reduce pollution by a small but significant amount and educate thousands of people about two very important issues - global warming and acid rain," says Tim Kunin, founder of EcologyFund.com. We salute both Natsource's Environmental Action Desk and the ELPC in their efforts to work with us to reduce CO2 and SO2 emissions to the atmosphere, he notes. Howard Learner, executive director of ELPC adds, We thank all the committed individuals who took the time to visit EcologyFund.com and participate in this initiative. The 2,600 tons donated by Natsource, as a result of this program, will help reduce pollution and ensure a cleaner environment. # # # Natsource LLC is a provider of strategic advisory, brokerage, and asset and portfolio management services for energy related products in emissions allowance, power, natural gas, coal, and weather hedging markets.
